Fredrick leaned against the wall of one of the buildings surrounding the alley, content for the moment to watch Eve kill her best friend. He looked at Michael and smiled at the uncertainty in the man’s eyes. Will he or won’t he? Fredrick really hoped that Michael wouldn’t try to interfere with the girls.
Eve cried out as Sarah grabbed a handful of her hair and pulled. She pushed away from the woman and yanked her hair out of Sarah’s hands.
Standing she said, “This is getting us nowhere. Why won’t you just let me kill you already?”
As if Sarah was just going to simply roll over and die. Eve should have known better. Her best friend was a fighter and would be to the very end.
Before Sarah could answer Eve there was a flash of light beside Michael. Both girls looked in that direction. Eve made her way to Fredrick, suddenly feeling unsure of herself while Sarah made her way to Michael’s side feeling relieved. Standing next to Michael was a being who glowed with an inner light. Sarah knew instantly that he wasn’t human and that he meant at least Sarah and Michael no harm. What he meant to do with Fredrick and Eve remained to be seen.
Sarah looked from this ethereal creature to Eve and her companion. Fredrick was standing ramrod straight with his eyes narrowed and a look of disgust on his face. Whoever this being was Fredrick wasn’t happy to see them.
