Eve continued to watch Fredrick.
I know Fredrick’s goal is to collect as many souls as possible but when I said yes to him a year ago my only goal was to be with Michael. I didn’t know what I was getting into. I certainly didn’t know I was going to look like this! My skin matches the color of my hair for Cripes sake! And I have a tail. Try hiding a tail from the man that you love. Oh and let’s not forget the horns. Those are easier to hide than a tail but it’s the complete package, whether I like it or not, Eve thought as she turned her attention back to her best friend and her boyfriend.
Michael was staring at her, seemingly not listening to a word Sarah was saying. Which didn’t make any sort of sense as he asked to discuss everything with Sarah.
Michael waved at Eve and she waved back, then pointed at Sarah. Only then did Michael turn his attention back to the woman standing beside him.


“…not paying any attention to us,” Sarah was saying when Michael tuned back in.
“What?” Michael asked her numbly.
Sarah stopped talking and looked at Michael carefully, “I was saying that we’re going to die tonight if we don’t leave this alley right now.”
Michael looked at her in stunned silence. What was she saying? Leave without Eve?!? Without even hearing what she was offering?
“No. Not until I hear what Eve is wanting to offer us. You can leave if you want, Sarah, but I’m staying,” Michael told her in a firm voice.
He refused to leave without Eve. He’d just gotten her back, he wasn’t going to lose her again.
